Introduction
NOTE! This course teaches the 7th edition of the Florida Building Code, which will be replaced by the 8th Edition on December 31, 2023.
Description
The course begins with a history of the Florida Building Codes, then it explores reasons why opening protection is important.
A thorough explanation of the testing methods and label requirements used by the Florida Building Code will be given. The wind-borne debris provisions w/in the code will be discussed, along with the ASCE 7-10 maps showing where this is required. Code issues when choosing fenestration products will be addressed. Resources to stay informed will also be provided.
Objective
This course is intended to provide participants with a working knowledge of the requirements within the Florida Code system that need to be followed when choosing a window or door for either new construction or replacement. Upon completion of this course, the participant will learn that their choices of fenestration products are critical to the survival of that home either during a catastrophic event, or just everyday security protection
