2027 Awards Program
Use the sections below to find answers about entering the
AIA Florida Design & Honor Awards. For complete eligibility
requirements for each award, review the Categories & Criteria page.
Submission requirements and forms will be emailed to
the address provided with your entry within two
business days after AIA Florida receives your
registration and applicable fee.

Before You Submit
Registration
What is the deadline to register?
Early bird registration ends February 5, 2027.
Registration closes March 5, 2027.
How much does it cost?
Entry fees vary by award category. The applicable fee
is listed with each award description.
Design Award registration completed by February 5
receives a $25 early bird discount. Registration fees
are non-refundable.
Design Awards generally require the architect of record
or design architect to be a member of AIA Florida,
AIA Puerto Rico or AIA Virgin Islands and to have an
office within one of those areas.
Certain award categories, including those open to
students, have different eligibility requirements.
Honor Awards also have category-specific membership
requirements.
Completed entries must be electronically submitted by
11:59 p.m. Eastern. Late or mailed submissions will not
be accepted.
What is the deadline to submit a Design Award project?
Design Award submissions are due March 15, 2027
at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
Is the submission deadline a postmark deadline?
No. All entries must be submitted electronically.
Mail-in submissions are not accepted.
Will the submission deadline be extended?
No. Awards deadlines are strictly observed. The
electronic submission portal closes at 11:59 p.m.
Eastern on March 15, 2027 and will not be available
after the deadline.
How do I submit my project?
After registering, you will receive an email within
two business days containing your submission
requirements and directions.
Completed Design Award submissions are uploaded through
the project submission portal.
No. Complete a separate submission form and upload for
each project.
How many slides may I include?
Design Award presentations should contain between
10 and 20 slides. The Project Description slide counts
toward the total.
The maximum is 20 slides.
Can I put more than one image on a slide?
Yes.
What if the project name, company name or logo appears in a photo?
Please blur or otherwise obscure identifying
information that could unintentionally reveal the
entrant to the jury or create bias.
AIA Florida staff reserves the right to obscure
identifying information before the project is provided
to the jury.
May I include a video?
Yes. One video may be embedded in the PowerPoint
presentation and should be set to play automatically.
If the video includes audio, note that on the slide so
the juror reviewing the presentation is aware.
Including a video is optional.
Design Excellence
AIA Framework for Design Excellence
Do I have to meet the AIA Framework for Design Excellence?
No. All projects are encouraged to incorporate the
AIA Framework for Design Excellence, but responding to
the framework in your project submission is optional.
If I answer the Framework questions, do I receive additional slides?
No. Design Award submissions may contain a maximum
of 20 slides regardless of whether the Framework for
Design Excellence is addressed.
Do I need to submit the AIA common application or spreadsheet?
No. A spreadsheet or common application is not
required. If you choose to address the Framework,
include the information in the narrative of your
PowerPoint presentation.
Where can I learn more about the Framework for Design Excellence?
The AIA Framework for Design Excellence includes

No. Awards deadlines are strictly observed. The
electronic submission portal will not be available
after 11:59 p.m. Eastern on March 15, 2027.
How many slides may I include in an Honor Award submission?
There is no set limit on the number of slides for an
Honor Award submission, but please keep the overall
file size in mind.

Awards Reception & Presentation
How are award recipients recognized?
Recipients are honored during the annual AIA Florida
Convention & Trade Show at the Design & Honor Awards
Reception & Presentation.
Awards at certain levels are recognized with dedicated
videos during the presentation.
Recipients and winning projects are also featured in
the Fall issue of Florida/Caribbean Architect
magazine and promoted through AIA Florida's media
channels and major Florida media markets.
Design Award project boards remain on display
throughout the year at AIA Florida headquarters in
downtown Tallahassee.
When and where is the 2027 awards presentation?
The 2027 AIA Florida Design & Honor Awards
Presentation will be held July 31, 2027 at
The Boca Raton in Boca Raton, Florida.
Can anyone attend the Design & Honor Awards Presentation?
Yes. Award recipients, AIA members and members of the
architecture community are welcome to attend.
