John Barie, AIA
AIA Tampa Bay
John Barie is a civic leader whose pro bono service has significantly shaped historic preservation and land-use policy in Pinellas County and St. Petersburg. As an original member of the Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board, he spent ten years providing architectural expertise, developing policy, organizing public education summits, and ultimately serving as Vice Chair. In St. Petersburg, he contributed to major updates of the city’s Land Development Regulations as an architectural advisor on the Neighborhood Review Committee and later served as a commissioner on the Development Review Commission during a period of rapid growth. John has used his design knowledge, communication skills, and leadership to strengthen community decision-making and ensure thoughtful stewardship of the built environment.

Michael Byrd, AIA
AIA Jacksonville
Michael Byrd is a lifelong public servant whose four decades of volunteer leadership have strengthened building safety, professional development, and community wellbeing across Florida. Beginning as a student member on a national AIA committee, he helped create the Intern Development Program—now a foundational pathway to licensure. He went on to serve in multiple civic roles, including the St. Johns County Vocational School Board, the TPC Sawgrass Architectural Review Board, and the City of Jacksonville’s Building Code Adjustment Board, where he spent 14 years reviewing code issues affecting public safety. Byrd later served as Assistant and Chief Building Official for Jacksonville and as Chief Building Official for Duval County Public Schools, ensuring safe, code-compliant facilities for the community. As a founding member of Faithworks Alliance, he supports faith-based educational initiatives for disadvantaged individuals, veterans, first responders, and their families. Through every role, Byrd has contributed his architectural expertise to elevate public safety, expand opportunity, and enrich the communities he serves.

Catherine Duncan, AIA
AIA Jacksonville
Catherine “Cathy” Duncan, AIA, is a dedicated community advocate whose service spans historic preservation, women’s support organizations, youth mentorship, and global development. For more than a decade, she has played a key role in protecting the architectural heritage of St. Augustine and Jacksonville through her work on the Historic Architectural Review Board and the Springfield Historic District Design Review Committee. Cathy has also lent her expertise to nonprofits such as the Women’s Center of Jacksonville, the Betty Griffin Center, and the ROWITA Awards, supporting women, families, and the arts. Earlier in her career, she served in the Peace Corps in Senegal, contributing to rural development and community empowerment. Across all her volunteer efforts, Cathy brings professionalism, passion, and a deep commitment to strengthening the communities she serves.

Keith Greminger, AIA
AIA Tampa Bay
Keith Greminger is a long-serving community leader whose work has shaped Tampa’s public realm, cultural life, and historic preservation efforts for more than three decades. As Board Chair of the Tampa Downtown Partnership, he helped champion placemaking and public-space improvements that strengthened the city’s urban core. His leadership with the American Victory Ship and Friends of the Riverwalk brought public engagement, major events, and capital improvements to two of Tampa’s signature civic assets. Keith also co-founded the Tampa Dragon Boat Races, transforming the waterfront into a vibrant community venue while supporting charitable causes. His service extends to youth sports through two decades of Bayshore Little League coaching and board participation, as well as to preservation through his role on the Hillsborough County Historic Preservation Grant Board, where he helped direct funding to protect culturally significant structures. In all his roles, Keith has combined design insight with civic commitment to advance community vitality, heritage, and engagement throughout Tampa Bay.

Lucille Hinners, AIA
AIA Palm Beach
Lucille Hinners is a community leader whose service spans land-use policy, philanthropy, mentorship, and women’s leadership development. As a member of the Palm Beach County Land Development Regulation Advisory Board, she helped guide updates to the County’s Unified Land Development Code, offering architectural and urban design insight to support responsible growth, environmental stewardship, and community character. Through Impact 100 Palm Beach County, she serves on the Board of Directors and founded both the NextGen initiative and the Social Media Committee, expanding outreach and engaging women across generations in collective philanthropic giving. Her involvement with the Junior League of Boca Raton includes work on the Public Affairs and Training Committees, where she supports advocacy efforts and leadership programming for women. As a mentor with the Eda & Cliff Viner Community Scholars Foundation, she provides long-term academic and professional guidance to a college architecture student. Lucille applies her expertise in design, communication, and leadership to strengthen civic institutions and empower individuals throughout her community.

Timothy Johnson, AIA
AIA Orlando
Tim Johnson is a long-time advocate for educational advancement and student success across Orange County. He has served as chairman of School Advisory Councils for both Mid Florida Technical School and Arbor Ridge School, helping shape policy, guide improvement plans, and support the effective use of school resources. As a member of the Board of Directors for Lake Eola Charter School, he worked closely with school leadership to strengthen programs and operations. Through Project Success with the 100 Black Men of Greater Orlando, he further expanded his impact by supporting scholarships, mentorship, and college-readiness initiatives for high school and college students. Tim has dedicated his expertise and leadership to empowering young people and improving educational opportunities within his community.

Robert Werthamer, AIA
AIA Miami
Robert Werthamer is a civic advocate whose service spans education, environmental resilience, mobility planning, and community health. He has contributed to shaping public-space and transportation policy as a member of the Miami-Dade Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and chaired the Buena Vista East Design Advisory Committee, guiding development near the historic district. Robert has long supported educational initiatives, including founding one of Brooklyn’s early charter schools and serving in leadership roles at Treasure Village Montessori. He has also engaged in environmental and resilience efforts through Opportunity Miami’s Risk + Resilience Tech Hub and the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. As team captain for the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, he leads fundraising efforts benefiting the University of Miami’s Sylvester Cancer Center. Robert brings design insight, advocacy, and community-driven problem-solving to advance healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.

Jeff Lane, AIA - AIA Jacksonville - Jeff is deeply involved in the Jacksonville community, participating in various organizations. He served on the board of Pine Castle from April 2005 to December 2010, a nonprofit organization providing services to adults with intellectual and developmental differences. He is a volunteer for the Lunch Buddy program at West Riverside Elementary where he has been a dedicated mentor, spending time each week with underserved children.
Carrie Manes, AIA - AIA Orlando - Carrie has served The Milk District Main Street program for the last five years where shehas contributed to improving the community through placemaking projects and bringing together design professionals and community members in three annual Design Charrettes.
Ana Rabelo Wallrapp, AIA - AIA Tampa Bay - Ana's two major non-profit areas of service are the Ronald McDonald House and All Children’s Hospital. Her service with the Ronald McDonald House helps to give families, many of whom are from out of town, a place to stay and food to eat, while their kids endure long hospital stays. The All Children’s Hospital Baseball for Kids program raises fund for the hospital also benefits Kids in Little league by providing equipment and mentoring.

Jaime Canaves, FAIA - AIA Miami -Canaves was appointed as the U.S. ambassador to the XIII Bienal de Arquitectura de Quito, Ecuador in 2006. He actively volunteers with Casa Valentina, an organization that helps former foster youth gain self-sufficiency providing more than 2,500 pro bono hours.

Juan Contin, AIA - AIA Palm Beach -Contin has served as the chair of the Lake Worth Beach Historic Preservation Board. He then chaired the Lake Worth Beach Planning and Zoning Board. He mentors high school students and is an adjunct professor.

Clarisse Gates, AIA - AIA Orlando - Gates serves on the City of Orlando Appearance Review Board. She is also the design committee chair of College Park Main Street and serves as co-chair of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).

Elizabeth Fleischhauer, AIA - AIA Florida Northwest -Fleischhauer was a member of the City of Pensacola Gateway Review Board. She has volunteered with IMPACT100 Pensacola Bay Area and Reclaim Our Vote helping non-profits with grants and encouraging community members to vote.

Adam Gayle, AIA - AIA Gainesville -Gayle has served as a mentor and speaker at the University of Florida and participates in Ask an Architect building the pipeline for future architects. He has volunteered with Rebuilding Together to build ADA complaint ramps and has served Habitat for Humanity.

Jerel McCants, AIA - AIA Tampa Bay - McCants has served as a mentor for the ACE Mentorship Program for 10 years. He is vice president of Friends of Tampa Union Station promoting awareness of the preservation of the Tampa train station. He has also served on the Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Committee.

Jonathan Moore, AIA - AIA Tampa Bay - Moore was president of the Rotary Club of Tampa, a board member of Habitat for Humanity Tampa and has volunteered teaching and as youth leader.

Dr. Ty Patak, AIA - AIA Florida Southwest -Patak served as chair of Tropic Isles Elementary School, School Advisory Committee and co-chair of Lee County Schools, Attendance Zone Advisory Committee. He was on the board of directors for Florida Design Out Crime Association, chair of Fort Myers Technical College, School Advisory Committee and vice president of Charlotte County Local Education Foundation (CLEF).

Craig Aquart, AIA - AIA Miami - Craig has served as Sunday school teacher and youth minister. He has provided his services to this homeowners’ association and introduced students to architecture through the Miami Dade County Public Schools STEM Advisory Board.

Danilo Guiso, AIA - AIA Fort Lauderdale - Danilo has served as a member of the City of Coconut Creek Planning and Zoning Board. He has also helped students discover careers in architecture, construction and engineering as a Broward County Ace Mentor Group Board member.

Peter Hauerstein, AIA - AIA Tampa Bay - Peter has served as the moderator for the HIllsborough County Community Sustainability Action Plan. He has also provided pro bono work as an advisor to the City of Tampa Replacement Home Project helping to house veterans.

Rodney Lewis, AIA - AIA Tallahassee - Rodney has served a board member for Big Bend Habitat for Humanity helping to provide affordable housing. He has also served on the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce board.

Carlos Molnar, AIA - AIA Tampa Bay - Carlos served on the Joint Surfside Work Group making sure architects' voices were heard as recommendations for an existing building inspection program were developed for the Florida Legislature. He also taught at USF helping to shape the next generation of architects.

Lourdes Solera, FAIA - AIA Miami - Lourdes has served on the City of Miami Historic and Environmental Preservation Board and the Miami Dade County Historic Preservation Board. She is also an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America and has served on the Board of Architecture and Interior Design.

William Gallo, AIA. Gallo has a long history of service to his community. He is chair and founding member of the Nova Southeastern University Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography Advisory Board; is a member of the city of Lighthouse Point Planning and Zoning Board; is a board member of Broward Workshop; is a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight; was nominated as corporate sponsor of the year for Nova Southeastern University; and is a contributing editor and columnist forLight Magazine.

Brian Herbert, AIA. Herbert has more than a decade of service as member and chair of the city of Deerfield Beach Community Appearance Board. He is also involved with Nova Southeastern University and is a founding member of the Foundation of Academic and Community Excellence. Herbert is a member of the Broward County Green Building Council, a design review architect for the city of Parkland, serves as a troop leader in the Boy Scouts and is involved in his church.

Maxim Nasab, AIA. Nasab participated most recently in a design charrette for the Creative Core in downtown Tallahassee. He is also a Leon County Council on Culture and Arts Cultural Facilities Matching Grant Program expert panelist, a member of NCARB's ARE 5.0 Item Development Subcommittee, a member of the board of directors for Goodwood Museum & Gardens, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of the Big Bend.

Rich Simmons, AIA. Simmons is the chair of the Barrio Latino Commission in Tampa and also participates in several Ybor City-focused nonprofits, including the Ybor Museum Society, the Ybor City Development Corp, and the Historic Ybor City Neighborhood Association. He is a youth sports coach, U.S. Army Reserve veteran and a California Safety Assessment Program volunteer.
