The new library at Ringling College of Art and Design truly reflects the creative community and creates a center for learning at the heart of its expanding campus. An important goal for the trustees at the outset of the planning process was to create a facility that was transformative; one that would enhance the College’s reputation as a premier art and design college and set a new direction for future campus design. Based on the master plan that imagined an “art walk” along a historically overlooked bayou, the new library helps to fulfill the College’s major objective of shifting the center of activity toward a formerly underused campus district. The library has become a destination for students and faculty, and one can find students sketching, reading, or collaborating in all corners of the building.
