Description

An understanding of what is in The National Fire Protection Associations 170 the Standard for Fire Safety and Emergency Symbols. This is a Standard referenced by the Florida Fire Prevention Code. Focus will be the symbols for Design Professionals can use in creating Life Safety Plans.

Objective

• How to use the symbols to show required wall fire and door/openings fire resistance ratings.
• How to use the symbols to show Egress Components their capacity, governing capacity and distance.
• How to use the symbols to show the Occupant capacity of a building’s spaces.
• Demonstrate, on sample buildings, the creation of Life Safety Plans which are required by the Florida Building Code and required by most governing jurisdictions.
