The University of Miami School of Architecture
presents a lecture by Michael Graves, FAIA

"A Grand Tour"

In 1960, Michael Graves was awarded the American Academy in Rome’s prestigious Prix de Rome.  Having just completed his graduate studies in architecture, he embarked on a Grand Tour that led to a lifelong fascination
with the landscape, the culture, and the history of Italy, which have greatly influenced his approach to architecture, design, art, and the redesign of The Warehouse, Graves’ personal residence in Princeton, New Jersey.

In "A Grand Tour," Graves discusses how his time in Rome has left an indelible mark on his life and work.

Thursday, March 24, 2011, 6:00 p.m.

Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center, Glasgow Hall

1215 Dickinson Drive, Coral Gables Campus.

Graves has received many prestigious awards, including the 1999 National Medal of Arts, the 2001 Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects, and the 2010 Topaz Medallion from the AIA and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, in recognition of his 39-year teaching career at Princeton University.
